Africa-Press – Djibouti. <\/strong><\/span>A person’s biological age can apparently be subject to \u00ab\u00a0transient changes\u00a0\u00bb while they undergo major surgery or deal with an illness such as \u00ab\u00a0severe COVID-19.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n

Experiencing various forms of stress may cause aging in humans, with that aging process then being reversed when an afflicted individual recovers from the stress that caused it, a new study published in the Cell Metabolism journal has suggested.<\/p>\n

The team behind the study postulated that \u201cbiological age is fluid and exhibits rapid changes in both directions,\u201d noting how they managed to discover signs of young mice\u2019s biological age being increased by \u201cheterochronic parabiosis,\u201d only to be \u201crestored following surgical detachment.\u201d<\/p>\n

The researchers also stated in their work that they were able to \u201cidentify transient changes in biological age during major surgery, pregnancy, and severe COVID-19 in humans and\/or mice.\u201d<\/p>\n

The researchers argued that the \u201cnew layer of aging dynamics\u201d they stumbled upon should be taken into consideration in future studies and insisted that \u201cthe elevation of biological age by stress may be a quantifiable and actionable target for future interventions.\u201d<\/p>\n
