Nigerian officials, led by National Security Adviser Nho Rbadu, are in the U.S. to counter claims of religious persecution in Nigeria. Africa. <\/strong> <\/span>Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris revealed that a high-level delegation from the federal government, led by National Security Adviser Nho Rbadu, conducted a series of meetings in the United States to counter what he described as “misleading narratives” regarding religious persecution in the country.<\/p>\n

The Nigerian delegation met with prominent officials, including U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, members of the U.S. Congress, officials from the State Department, and influential figures in Washington’s decision-making circles.<\/p>\n

According to Idris, the delegation presented documented data on the security challenges facing the country, along with a detailed explanation of anti-terrorism operations and coordination mechanisms among security agencies, emphasizing that the government is committed to protecting all citizens “regardless of religion or ethnicity.”<\/p>\n

The minister stressed that the aim of these efforts is to correct Nigeria’s image abroad, especially after discussions in the U.S. Congress and lobbying campaigns by human rights groups that speak of “genocide” against Christians.<\/p>\n

Idris stated, “These narratives are not only inaccurate but dangerous, as extremists have targeted both Muslims and Christians alike.”<\/p>\n

He also noted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is taking the issue very seriously, having strengthened internal security infrastructure and expanded international cooperation in counter-terrorism and intelligence sharing.<\/p>\n

He added that the delegation’s mission reflects the current administration’s determination to defend Nigeria’s reputation and ensure that the positions of international partners are based on accurate information rather than one-sided narratives.<\/p>\n

Strong Relations with Washington<\/b><\/p>\n

The Nigerian minister affirmed that the relationship between Nigeria and the United States remains strong, and that these meetings reflect Abuja’s openness to dialogue, partnership, and transparency.<\/p>\n

He clarified that more meetings will be held in the coming days as part of a comprehensive government plan to address misinformation regarding the security situation in the country.<\/p>\n
