Africa-Press. <\/strong> <\/span>A series of attacks carried out by armed men killed at least 10 people in northern and eastern Burkina Faso over the weekend, according to security sources. The toll may be higher due to communication difficulties and the area\u2019s isolation after telecommunications networks were destroyed.<\/p>\n

Northern Burkina Faso saw a fresh surge in violence after the town of Titao came under a major attack on Saturday, February 14, 2026, even though it had until recently been considered relatively distant from terrorist operations.<\/p>\n

A large group of gunmen launched a coordinated assault targeting the town\u2019s military camp. The attackers looted its contents before setting the market on fire and destroying telecommunications infrastructure.<\/p>\n

Armed forces spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Abdoul Aziz Oue\u0301draogo confirmed the attack on Sunday, February 15 on national television, stating that \u201cthe situation is under control in Titao.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said the north of the country experienced \u201cseveral attacks\u201d the same day, praising the \u201cbravery and efficiency of the defense forces,\u201d which, he claimed, \u201cinflicted a crushing defeat on the terrorists and neutralized dozens of them.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to local sources, the attackers were \u201cnumerous\u201d and carried out the operation according to a clear plan after splitting into three groups. The first group\u2014fighters on motorcycles\u2014stormed the military camp and seized weapons and ammunition. The second group destroyed telecommunications facilities, completely isolating Titao. The third group entered the town, raided the market, looted shops and supply trucks, and then set them on fire.<\/p>\n

Reports said the attackers left the town heading north after the assault. At the same time, Titao residents posted urgent calls for help on social media, saying the attackers had threatened to return again.<\/p>\n
