{"id":5313,"date":"2026-04-27T09:14:15","date_gmt":"2026-04-27T09:14:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/en\/home\/egypts-efforts-to-mitigate-u-s-iran-tensions"},"modified":"2026-04-27T09:25:27","modified_gmt":"2026-04-27T09:25:27","slug":"egypts-efforts-to-mitigate-u-s-iran-tensions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/en\/policy\/egypts-efforts-to-mitigate-u-s-iran-tensions","title":{"rendered":"Egypt&#8217;s Efforts to Mitigate U.S.-Iran Tensions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"ap-article-header-tag\"> <strong>Africa-Press. <\/strong> <\/span>Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Atty discussed in two phone calls on Sunday with his Iranian and Qatari counterparts the course of US-Iranian negotiations and de-escalation efforts in the region.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, the two contacts witnessed consultations between Abdul Ati, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, and Abbas Araqchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran, on the course of negotiations, as well as the assessment of recent developments in the region.<\/p>\n<p>During both contacts, the Egyptian minister stressed the importance of adhering to the negotiating track and intensifying consultation and coordination between the concerned parties, in order to ensure the sustainability of the ceasefire agreement and stabilize the truce leading to an end to the war.<\/p>\n<p>The statement said that Abdul Ati stressed the need to fully adhere to the path of diplomatic solution, pointing out that dialogue is the basic guarantee to spare the region the risks of widening conflicts.<\/p>\n<p>He also pointed out that the establishment of the pillars of regional security and stability requires necessarily respect for the sovereignty of States, and taking into account the security concerns of the States of the region, especially the brotherly Gulf States, as well as the preservation of the security and freedom of international navigation.<\/p>\n<p>The Egyptian minister stressed that continued coordination and joint action is the only way to support security and stability in the region and preserve the capabilities of the countries of the region.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ap-article-footer-note\">Find more news and analyses on <span class=\"ap-highlight-country\">Africa<\/span> on the <span class=\"ap-highlight-brand\">Africa Press<\/span> website<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press.
