Africa-Press. <\/strong> <\/span>The National Election Authority in the Central African Republic announced the results of the second round of legislative and partial elections held on April 26, 2026, in a move that paves the way for the completion of the new National Assembly, which is expected to shape the future government of President Faustin-Archange Touade\u0301ra.<\/p>\n

The results were initially scheduled to be announced on April 4, but the process was delayed due to a protest by IT department staff at the data processing center of the National Election Authority, who demanded the payment of salaries that had been overdue for two months, leading to a temporary suspension of the announcement process.<\/p>\n

An agreement was later reached between the staff, the electoral authority, and the authorities, allowing for the official announcement of the results. According to the announced results, 48 out of 54 contested seats were filled, while the National Election Authority only published the names of the winning deputies without disclosing their political affiliations. These new deputies will join the 90 already elected in the first round.<\/p>\n

In the eight electoral districts where results were annulled in the first round, five seats were resolved, while a second round will be held in the remaining three districts.<\/p>\n

In the absence of complete official results and the final political distribution of seats, it remains difficult to determine whether the presidential majority or the opposition will have the upper hand in the upcoming National Assembly, as political circles await an assessment of the new balance of power within Parliament.<\/p>\n

The results saw opposition candidate Anicet-Georges Dologue\u0301le\u0301, who finished second in the previous presidential election, win a deputy seat for the Bocaranga 1 constituency after receiving 52% of the votes.<\/p>\n

The results also revealed a continued lack of representation for women in Parliament, as only one female candidate out of six who contested the second round was successful, meaning that the number of women in the upcoming National Assembly will total only eight out of 144 deputies.<\/p>\n
