Mbappe spoke about the difficulty of the match and the importance of a strong start in the World Cup.<\/p>\n<p>The French striker stated in comments to a local source: &#8220;It is good to start the tournament against Senegal; they are the African champions, or maybe I don&#8217;t know if it is them or Morocco, so we will try to stay away from that issue.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mbappe quickly retracted his description of Senegal as the continental champion, referring to the case currently before the Court of Arbitration for Sport, which Senegal filed in March regarding a dispute over the continental title, with a final decision expected soon.<\/p>\n<p>The Moroccan Football Federation had submitted a request to its African counterpart, asking for the result of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final to be awarded to them following the withdrawal of Senegalese players after a penalty was awarded to the Moroccan team in the dying moments of the match.
