Africa-Press. <\/strong> <\/span>The Ivory Coast national team achieved a valuable and hard-fought victory against Ecuador with a score of 1-0 in an exciting match in Group E of the 2026 World Cup, with Amad Diallo scoring the decisive goal in the 90th minute at Lincoln Financial Field.<\/p>\n

The Ivory Coast team struggled throughout the first half under intense offensive pressure from Ecuador, which enjoyed significant support from the crowd. Ecuador came close to taking the lead on several occasions, but the crossbar denied attempts from Yipwah Zamora and Alan Minda, while goalkeeper Yahya Fofana excelled in keeping a clean sheet.<\/p>\n

In contrast, the Ivory Coast relied on quick counterattacks, with Yan Diomande being one of their standout offensive players, creating several dangerous opportunities, the most notable being a shot from Ely Wahi that hit the crossbar in the second half.<\/p>\n

As time passed, the Ivorian team managed to regain their balance and exert greater control over the match, especially after the introduction of Amad Diallo, who added extra vitality to the attack. Yahya Fofana continued to shine with a crucial save from a powerful shot by Gonzalo Plata.<\/p>\n

As the match seemed to be heading towards a goalless draw, Wilfried Singo led a swift attack down the right flank and delivered a precise cross to Amad Diallo inside the penalty area, allowing the Manchester United forward to slot the ball into the net in the 90th minute, securing three precious points for the “Elephants.”<\/p>\n

This victory is a significant step for the Ivory Coast in the race for qualification to the Round of 32, especially as it came against one of the strongest teams in the group, with Ecuador entering the match on a streak of 19 consecutive matches without defeat and having finished second in the South American qualifiers behind Argentina.<\/p>\n

The Ivorian team will face a more challenging test in the next round when they meet Germany, as they aim to enhance their chances of qualification and continue their successful journey in the tournament.<\/p>\n
