Africa-Press. <\/strong> <\/span>Remittances from Egyptians working abroad continued to reach record levels, rising by 33.2% year-on-year from July 2025 to April 2026, totaling approximately $39.2 billion, compared to about $29.4 billion during the same period of the previous fiscal year.<\/p>\n

The Central Bank of Egypt stated that remittances maintained their strong performance, supported by increased foreign currency inflows through official channels, reflecting continued confidence in the Egyptian banking sector and enhancing the country\u2019s foreign currency resources.<\/p>\n

On a monthly basis, remittances in April 2026 recorded an increase of 44%, reaching about $4.3 billion, compared to around $3 billion in the same month of 2025.<\/p>\n

Remittances from workers abroad are one of the most important sources of foreign currency in Egypt, alongside tourism revenues, the Suez Canal, exports, and foreign investments. They also represent a fundamental pillar in supporting international reserves and financing the economy’s foreign currency needs.<\/p>\n

Economic analysts believe that the continued growth of remittances reflects the impact of monetary and fiscal reforms that Egypt has undergone over the past two years, in addition to the increased attractiveness of official banking channels for transferring money from abroad.<\/p>\n

Remittances from Egyptians abroad have seen significant growth since 2024, driven by economic measures that included the liberalization of the exchange rate and enhancing the flexibility of the foreign exchange market, which helped narrow the gap between the official and parallel markets. Egypt is one of the largest Arab and African countries receiving remittances from workers abroad, as these remittances are a primary source of support for the country\u2019s financial and economic stability.<\/p>\n
