He stated that &#8220;the people of Guinea deserve to see their wealth contribute to their development.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>During a meeting with representatives from the mining sector, Doumbouya condemned a system that deprives Guinea of a significant portion of gold profits. He said, &#8220;When we took on our responsibilities at the head of this country, my comrades and I made a serious pledge to the people of Guinea: to put an end to the paradox of a very wealthy country, while its inhabitants still live in extreme poverty despite the abundance of natural resources.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He added, &#8220;Our gold is extracted daily from the depths of Guinea in its raw state. It is transported to foreign refineries where it is processed, certified, and sold. At the same time, Guinea receives only a small portion of the extracted wealth. Others capture the added value, create jobs, and develop their economies thanks to our resources. This situation cannot continue.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He announced the imminent opening of the Nimba gold refinery, presented as an ambitious industrial project in the gold sector in Africa. Guinea will no longer settle for being merely a supplier of raw materials to factories around the world&#8230; Guinean gold will be smelted in Guinea, refined in Guinea, and processed in Guinea before being exported to international markets,&#8221; stated General Doumbouya, who came to power through a coup in September 2021 and was elected president in the presidential elections held last December with little competition.<\/p>\n<p>He declared that &#8220;the export of raw gold will be officially and definitively banned,&#8221; emphasizing that &#8220;any entity that violates this strategic direction will face severe penalties.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Guinea, located in West Africa and rich in mineral resources, has deposits of gold, iron, diamonds, and uranium. It is also one of the leading countries globally in bauxite production, which is used in aluminum manufacturing.<\/p>\n<p>However, the benefits of exploiting these deposits are clearly unfair and provide little advantage to the local population.
