In his comments on the proposed law, Ennahda leader Riadh Chaibi stated that the project “cannot be viewed in isolation from the political and judicial context that Tunisia has been experiencing since July 25, 2021,” considering it “beyond a legislative initiative, reflecting a trend towards closing the political space to one of its key components.”<\/p>\n
Limits of Authority<\/strong><\/p>\n Chaibi added that the project raises, from a constitutional perspective, an issue regarding the function of the legislative authority and its limits, clarifying that the role of Parliament is to establish general and abstract rules, not to issue laws targeting specific individuals or parties.
