Africa-Press. <\/strong> <\/span>Authorities in the Central African Republic announced the restoration of control over the town of Am Dafok, located in the Vakaga province in the northeastern part of the country near the border with Sudan, following an attack by armed groups on June 30. They confirmed that search operations are ongoing to enhance security and pursue the attackers.<\/p>\n

According to a local source, the attack was carried out by a coalition of fighters from the Popular Front for the Renaissance of the Central African Republic and members of the Democratic Movement for the Rally of the Central African People, led by Arda Hakouma, along with unidentified armed individuals.<\/p>\n

The authorities reported that the armed forces, supported by their Russian allies, managed to regain control of the town after hours of clashes, while search and sweep operations continued in the vicinity of Am Dafok the following day, without an official casualty count being announced.<\/p>\n

Local sources indicated that around ten people were killed in the attack, in addition to injuries and the displacement of dozens of residents, as activities within the town came to a halt and communication services faced significant difficulties.<\/p>\n

Social media circulated videos showing armed individuals inside the gendarmerie headquarters in Am Dafok, as well as others next to the bodies of men in military uniforms, while those sharing the videos claimed they had killed soldiers and police officers in the Central African Republic.<\/p>\n

The governor of the Verte\u0301 region, Thierry E\u0301variste Binguenin, confirmed the return of calm to the town, noting casualties and the displacement of some residents, without disclosing official figures.<\/p>\n

For his part, the government spokesperson, E\u0301variste Ngamana, stated that the defense and security forces, with the support of their Russian allies, were able to “neutralize the armed groups,” confirming that the town of Am Dafok is now under state control, and that search operations continue to track down armed elements that may still be holed up in the area, alongside enhancing security measures along the border with Sudan.<\/p>\n
