Asmara, 04 Deceember 2023- The Eritrean senior delegation led by Mr. Tesfay Gebreselasie, Minister of Land, Water and Environment, that is participating at the United Nations 28th Global Climate Change Conference that was convened in Dubai on 30 November participated at the 15th Facilitative Sharing of Views.
At the meeting the Eritrean delegation shared Eritrea’s experience for mitigating the effects of climate change through greening campaign with internal capacity.
Mr. Kibrom Asmerom, acting head of environment at the Ministry, said that Eritrea being one of the least countries to release polluted gases and yet it is one of the main victims of climate change.
Mr. Kibrom went on to say that in order to address the climate change, Eritrea is engaged redressing the environmental through conducting massive construction of terraces, forestation and reforestation, expansion of reserved lands as well as development of forestry and wildlife.
Eng. Lewam Haile also presented two years update regarding information gathering and analyzing pertaining to climate change.
Minister Tesfay and other delegation members also responded to inquiries from the attendees.
In addition, Minister Tesfay provided an update on the investments Eritrea is making in smokeless ovens and alternative energy in an effort to stabilize the environment.
Eritrea was one of the 15 countries that were selected to share their country experiences.
