Africa-Press – Eritrea. Asmara, 12 March 2024 – Nationals residing in various countries enthusiastically celebrated International Women’s Day under the theme “Equality: Our Core Principle”.
According to reports, nationals in the UK cities of London, Birmingham, Nottingham, Leicester City, Middleborough, Coventry, Sheffield, Leeds, Cardiff, Newcastle, Liverpool, Glasgow, Brighton, and Manchester colorfully celebrated International Women’s Day featuring cultural and artistic programs.
At the event in London, Ms. Nardos Michael, head of the UK branch of the National Union of Eritrean Women, delivered a statement on behalf of the union. Mr. Saleh Abdella, Charge d’Affaires at the Eritrean Embassy, commended the contribution and participation of Eritrean women in the UK in national affairs. He called for strengthening organizational capacity and actively working to realize the objectives of the union.
Nationals in Doha, Qatar, also commemorated International Women’s Day with patriotic zeal. At the event, Mr. Ali Ibrahim, Eritrea’s Ambassador to Qatar, and Ms. Gidey Mihreteab, head of the union branch, explained the deep meaning of the day in the history of Eritrean women, as well as the achievements the Eritrean women have made in ensuring their equality. Additionally, at the event, the Eritrean cultural center and the new office of the National Union of Eritrean Women were inaugurated.
Similarly, nationals in Vienna, Austria, the Republic of South Sudan, Kuwait, South Africa, as well as in various cities of the US, enthusiastically celebrated International Women’s Day under the theme “Equality: Our Core Principle”.
