Africa-Press – Eritrea. The National Confederation of Eritrean Workers organized a seminar and workshop on 22 and 23 April in connection with World Workers’ Day, 1 May, under the theme “Productivity with Conscious Participation.”

Dr. Tsegay Medin, Head of Archaeological Heritage Research at the Commission of Culture and Sports, gave briefing acquainting participants with Eritrea’s cultural heritage resources based on scientific research conducted from 27 million years ago to the recent history of the country.

Noting the significance of cultural heritage in all sectors of national development progress and in consolidating national identity and unity, Dr. Tsegay said that the cultural heritage the Eritrean people possess plays a significant role in ensuring their existence and future.

In relation to labor and productivity, Dr. Tsegay called for the acknowledgment and transfer to posterity of the cultural heritage produced by the Eritrean people throughout various stages of their history.

In the same vein, a workshop focusing on safety and health in the workplace was conducted. The workshop was attended by representatives of the National Confederation of Eritrean Workers, Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare, Ministry of Health, Bisha Mining, and Anberbeb Companies.

At the workshop, representatives of each participant institution presented briefings regarding the meaning of safety and health in the workplace, the current situation of their institutions, as well as challenges and future programs.

Mr. Michael Mebrahtu, Chairman of the Social Service Provision Workers Federation, noted that the National Confederation of Eritrean Workers is working in principle to ensure the safety and health of workers in the workplace. He said that efforts are being exerted to revive the safety and health committees established in 2015 and to establish new ones.
