Africa-Press – Eritrea. After travelling to the Middle East with Donald Trump on official visits, FIFA President Gianni Infantino arrived late in Paraguay, which caused a two-hour delay in the start of the FIFA Congress on Thursday, according to sources who spoke to Reuters.
At the anticipated start of the conference in Asuncion, media reports stated that Infantino’s aircraft from Doha, which included a stop in Nigeria, was still in the air.
According to a source briefed on the matter, FIFA notified delegates at approximately 8:00 a.m. local time (1100 GMT) that the event would begin two hours later than scheduled, at 10:30 a.m., because of “unforeseen reasons.”
Alongside U.S. President Trump, Infantino was travelling to the Middle East, which included stops in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.
The program was postponed by an hour on Wednesday from its intended start time of 9:30 a.m.
