Africa-Press – Eritrea. CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe joined FIFA President Gianni Infantino in Rabat for the official inauguration of the FIFA Africa Office—a milestone moment for African football. The new office is expected to serve as a strategic hub for driving development, investment, and innovation across the continent.

Dr. Motsepe hailed the move as a “crucial step in the journey to unlock the full potential of African football.” He emphasized that the establishment of the FIFA Africa Office demonstrates a shared commitment between CAF and FIFA to elevate the standards of the game on the continent, both on and off the pitch.

“This office is more than just bricks and mortar,” Dr. Motsepe said. “It is a symbol of our unwavering commitment to accelerate the growth and global competitiveness of African football. Through this office, we will strengthen collaboration, attract more investment, and build stronger foundations for youth and grassroots development.”

Gianni Infantino echoed the sentiment, expressing confidence in Africa’s role as a vital player in the global football community. “Africa is not the future—it is the present,” Infantino declared. “This office will be a center for excellence, bringing together the best minds and resources to support CAF and all 54 member associations across the continent.”

Located in Rabat, the FIFA Africa Office will coordinate FIFA’s operations and support programs in the region, including the Forward Programme, infrastructure development, coaching education, and women’s football initiatives. The opening is also seen as a diplomatic nod to Morocco’s growing influence in the global football landscape, following the nation’s successful World Cup bid with Spain and Portugal.

With the new office now operational, CAF and FIFA have signaled their intent to usher in a new era for African football.
