Africa-Press – Eritrea. Eritrea’s Denden SC will take part in the CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA qualifiers slated for September 4-16th in Nairobi, Kenya.
Auka Gecheo, the Executive Director of the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) confirmed that CAF had given Denden SC special consideration to feature.
“We are pleased that for the first time a team from Eritrea will feature in the Zonal qualifiers,” added Gecheo.
Nine teams have now confirmed to feature in the qualifiers with Commercial Bank of Ethiopia eager to defend their title. The best team in the qualifiers will represent the Zone at the CAF Women’s Champions League 2025 to be played later this year.
Hosts Kenya will be represented by Police Bullets FC, while Kampala Queens FC who are handled by Ethiopian coach Asefa Firew Hailegebreal will represent Uganda.
The other teams that will take part include; Top Girls Academy FC (Burundi), Rayon Sport WFC (Rwanda), Yei Joint Stars FC (South Sudan), JKT Queens (Tanzania) and JKU Princess FC (Zanzibar).
