Africa-Press – Eritrea. Manchester City have confirmed that forward Omar Marmoush has suffered a knee injury while on international duty with Egypt, ruling him out of Sunday’s highly anticipated Manchester derby.

The 25-year-old attacker picked up the knock during Egypt’s international fixtures and will now return to Manchester for further medical assessment and a tailored rehabilitation program.

City revealed that Marmoush will not be available for selection against Manchester United, a blow to Pep Guardiola’s attacking options.

Marmoush, who joined City in the summer and has quickly become a versatile option in Guardiola’s frontline, had been in good form heading into the international break. His absence would be felt in Sunday’s showdown at the Etihad.

City will hope the Egyptian’s injury is not long-term, with crucial fixtures in the Premier League and Champions League looming in the weeks ahead.
