Africa-Press – Eritrea. The Central Committee of the National Union of Eritrean Women conducted its 12th regular meeting on 19 December in Asmara.
The meeting focused on programs carried out to enhance the political awareness of members; efforts and results in expanding and strengthening women’s organizations; progress made in preserving the identity and values of the union; women’s participation in national development programs; as well as strengthening the institutional capacity of the union.
Ms. Tekea Tesfamicael, President of the National Union of Eritrean Women, noting that the correct strategy being followed by the union is yielding encouraging achievements from time to time, said that conducting a thorough assessment of strengths and challenges will have significant contribution in enhancing the performance of the union.
Ms. Tekea also called on members inside the country and abroad to strengthen their participation and contribution in the implementation of the objectives and mission of the union.
The participants conducted extensive discussions focusing on resilience and development programs inside the country and in the Diaspora, strengthening organizational capacity, eradicating harmful practices and communicable diseases, as well as enhancing media activities.
