Africa-Press – Eritrea. At an activity assessment meeting conducted on 3 February it was reported that in 2025 the micro-credit and saving program in the Central Region has conducted commendable activities.

Mr. Samson Yohannes, head of the program in the region, reported that as part of the effort conducted to collect loan from customers, the rate of loan repayment has increased by 21% and the amount distributed to customers that was 62.6 million Nakfa has increased to 76.5 million Nakfa.

Furthermore, Mr. Samson noted that the number of customers compared with that of 2024 has increased by 13.9%, loan repayment from 52.6% to 65.5%. He also said that 55.6% of the beneficiaries are women.

Mr. Tafla Asmerom, acting manager of the program, on his part commended the role of the Central region administration in the activities of the program as well as the activity exerted in encouraging customers repay their loans.

The participants on their part called for timely collecting loans and encourage individuals to benefit from the program in groups.

Appreciating the micro-credit and saving program for supporting citizens to develop their economic capacity, Mr. Tekie Qeleta, Director General of Administration and Finance in the region, called on customers to improve their livelihoods from the benefit they are being provided from the program and repay their loans on time.

In the Central Region, the micro-credit and saving program has six village banks and over 11 thousand customers.
