At commemorative events conducted in the Australian cities of Melbourne, Adelaide, and Perth, heads of the National Union of Eritrean Women branches, noting the significance of celebrating International Women’s Day in transferring the history of Eritrean women to the young generation, expressed conviction to strengthen organizational capacity and participation in national affairs.

At the event in Melbourne, Mr. Kidane Ginbot, chairman of the Eritrean community in Victoria Region, and Mr. Habtom Giovani, secretary of the PFDJ, delivered messages of solidarity.

Commending the strong participation of Eritrean women in all stages of the country’s history, Mr. Endrias Abraham, Eritrea’s Consul General in Australia, said that preserving the achievements already registered and working for better outcomes is the message of International Women’s Day.

Similarly, nationals in various cities of Norway enthusiastically commemorated International Women’s Day with various programs depicting the significance of the day. They also expressed readiness to enhance participation in national development programs.

Nationals in Oakland, the US, commemorated International Women’s Day with patriotic zeal. The commemorative event was organized in collaboration with the National Union of Eritrean Women branch and the Eritrean Community in the city.

The event, in which invited American guests took part, featured cultural and artistic programs depicting the day.

International Women’s Day has been celebrated globally since the early 1900s, advocating for women’s rights and gender equality. In Eritrea, the day holds particular significance as it highlights the contributions of Eritrean women in the struggle for independence and their ongoing role in national development. The Eritrean community abroad actively participates in these commemorations, reinforcing cultural ties and promoting women’s empowerment within their diaspora communities.
