Africa-Press – Eritrea. Youth weeks were conducted in the sub-zones of Adi-Quala, Mai-Mine, and Emni-Haili in the Southern Region from 22 to 24 March.

The youth weeks featured cultural and scientific competitions, innovation and creativity displays, as well as recognition for outstanding students.

According to the heads of the National Union of Eritrean Youth and Students branches in the sub-zones, the objective of the youth weeks was to enable the youth to identify their talents and support them in developing them.

Noting that the objective of the union is to nurture youth equipped with academic and technical capacity, as well as to develop youth who have the eagerness for innovation and research, Mr. Girmay Gebru, head of the union in the Southern Region, called for coordinated effort on the part of all stakeholders to that effect.

The participants, on their part, said that the program has significant contribution in motivating outstanding students to work harder for their future educational career, and in encouraging those engaged in cultural and innovative activities to further enhance their talents. They also called for the continuity of the program.

The administrators of the sub-zones also expressed the readiness of the sub-zonal administrations to stand alongside the union branches in their future endeavors.
