Africa-Press – Eritrea. <\/strong><\/span>Cristiano Ronaldo says he will \u201cspeak when he wants\u201d and his row with Manchester United will not \u201cshake\u201d his Portugal team at the World Cup.<\/p>\n

United are exploring their legal options as they look to end Ronaldo\u2019s time at the club following his critical interview with TalkTV.<\/p>\n

Ronaldo, 37, said he felt \u201cbetrayed by the club\u201d and stated he had \u201cno respect\u201d for manager Erik ten Hag.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn my life, the best timing is always my timing,\u201d Ronaldo said on Monday.<\/p>\n

Making a surprise appearance at a news conference, the Portugal captain said: \u201cI don\u2019t have to think about what other people think. I speak when I want. The players know me really well for many years and know the type of person I am.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s an ambitious group that is hungry and focused. So I\u2019m sure it [the interview] won\u2019t shake the changing room\u2019s concentration and focus.\u201d<\/p>\n

Five-time Ballon d\u2019Or winner Ronaldo will lead Portugal into their opening Group H game against Ghana on Thursday.<\/p>\n

He has just over seven months remaining on his \u00a3500,000-a-week contract at Old Trafford but United could terminate the forward\u2019s contract, which would leave him free to sign for another club when the transfer window opens in January.<\/p>\n

He has not played because of an unspecified illness since he captained United in their 3-1 defeat at Aston Villa on 6 November, but he says he feels in shape for what will be his fifth World Cup.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m feeling great, I\u2019m recovered and I\u2019m training well and ready to start the World Cup in the best way possible,\u201d said Ronaldo.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel that this Portugal squad has amazing potential. I think we can win for sure, but we need to focus on the next game. So, it\u2019s focusing in Ghana, get a win and go from there.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will see in the end who the best team is, but I believe Portugal is the best team in this World Cup. But we need to show it on the pitch.\u201d<\/p>\n
