Africa-Press – Eritrea. <\/strong><\/span>Egyptian side Al Ahly and Japanese club Urawa Red Diamonds reached the semifinals Friday of the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup. Al Ahly beat Saudi Arabian club Al Ittihad 3-1 to advance at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah.<\/p>\n

Al Ahly’s Ali Maaloul netted the first goal on a penalty kick in the 21st minute before Al Ittihad’s French veteran striker Karim Benzema missed a penalty, which was given due to a handball in the 45th minute.<\/p>\n

Hussein Elshahat made it 2-0 in the 59th minute. Three minutes later, Emam Ashour netted the third goal for the Egyptian side. Benzema tallied the only goal for Ittihad in the 92nd minute. Al Ahly will face Brazilian side Fluminese in the semifinals Monday.<\/p>\n

Urawa Red Diamonds defeat Club Leon with 1 goal<\/b><\/p>\n

Japanese club Urawa Red Diamonds defeated Mexican side Club Leon 1-0 in round 2 Friday of the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup. Alex Schalk netted the winning goal for the Japanese club in the 78th minute at Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium in Jeddah.<\/p>\n

Club Leon’s William Tesillo was sent off with a second yellow card in the 84th minute. Urawa Red Diamonds will take on reigning English Premier League champions Manchester City in the semifinal Tuesday. The final and 3rd place match will be played Dec. 22.<\/p>\n
