The company said that the vehicle rolled off the assembly line last night &#8212; a Model Y L electric car.<\/p>\n<p>It noted that it took more than 30 months to surpass the 1 million threshold at the factory, which opened in January 2019, but the increase in capacity has taken 14 months to reach 4 million vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>The factory hit 2 million vehicles in September 2023, and 3 million in October 2024. The number of cars produced at the Shanghai factory reached 675,000 in the first nine months of 2025, accounting for more than half of the US electric car company\u2019s global vehicle production.<\/p>\n<p>The Shanghai factory is the company&#8217;s largest production facility outside the US.
