Africa-Press – Eritrea. <\/strong><\/span>SEOUL (Sputnik) \u2013 South Korea\u2019s lunar orbiter \u201cDanuri\u201d has successfully reached its intended flight trajectory to the moon, South Korea\u2019s Ministry of Science and ICT said.<\/p>\n

\u201cDanuri\u201d (\u201cEnjoy the Moon\u201d) was launched from Florida\u2019s Cape Canaveral Space Force Station aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket on Thursday evening, local time (23:08 GMT).<\/p>\n

South Korea\u2019s Ministry of Science and ICT said in the early hours of Saturday, local time, that the lunar orbiter had successfully entered its intended flight path to the moon and that the journey will take four and a half months.<\/p>\n

After it enters the moon\u2019s orbit in December, \u201cDanuri\u201d, which was developed by the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI), will begin its year-long mission studying the lunar environment and terrain. This is South Korea\u2019s first space mission outside of Earth\u2019s orbit.<\/p>\n
