Africa-Press – Eswatini. MBABANE Highlanders goalkeeper Mxolisi Dlamini was a cut above the rest during the 2022 Bible Society Cup on Saturday at Mavuso Sports Centre.
The pint-sized talented shot-stopper scooped three individual awards on the day. He was named player of the tournament, goalkeeper of the tournament and man of the match in the semi-final against Denver Sundowns.
Highlanders were crowned the 2022 Bible Society Cup champions after defeating Manzini Wanderers by a solitary goal scored by Siwakhile Shongwe.
Interviewed after the presentation ceremony, Dlamini said he was very happy about his performance and promised that he was committed to doing much better going forward.
“It was not an easy tournament as all the teams were strong. If it were not for the commitment and hard work of my team, I was not going to get all these awards. I am happy for such recognition,” he said.
Meanwhile, Highlanders’ guest player Mpendulo Thomo was named man of the match in the final after displaying a heart-warming performance that won him lots of fans.
The capital city giants paraded more than five guest players, most of whom were foreigners but the club’s Managing Director (MD), Ally Kgomongwe, said he was not impressed by their performances, declaring that they would continue looking for better talent in the transfer market.
