SNAT PRESIDENT SALARY STOPPED: MP Timothy Myeni demands answers from Public Service Minister

Africa-Press – Eswatini. Timothy Myeni, the Nkilongo Member of Parliament(MP) asked Public Service Minister Mabulala Maseko to give an explanation why Government decided to stop the salary of Mbongwa Dlamini, the President of the Swaziland National Association of Teachers(SNAT).

Speaking in Parliament during a debate of the Public Service Ministry on Wednesday, the MP said he was made to understand that the SNAT President was accused of absenteeism when in fact he was attending meetings and workshops in his capacity as the President of a teachers’ union.

“Can the Minister explain the decision to stop the salary of SNAT President Mbongwa Dlamini. We are made to understand that he is accused of absenteeism when in fact he was attending meetings and workshops in his capacity as SNAT President. I remember one meeting where the SNAT President was with the Principal Secretary(PS), then if he is accused of being absent from work,is the PS also facing similar allegations? I want to know if this is not a victimization of the SNAT President just for being a unionist,”said the Nkilongo MP.

Responding to the MP’s submissions , Public Service Minister Mabulala Maseko said he was just a political head of the Ministry adding that there were many Government officials who dealt with such matters.

“Can I please request the Nkilongo MP Chairperson to take into account the fact that I am just a political head, there are Government officials who deal with such matters,” said the Minister.
