Africa-Press – Eswatini. Asisukumeni Bomake Multi-purpose Co-operative Society Limited has received a funding of E1.5 million from the regional development fund.
This money is aimed to assist in purchasing a truck that will be leased to generate and provide an income for the members.
This was revealed by the Minister of Agriculture, Jabulani Mabuza yesterday during the Zishineni Chiefdom Development Plan launch.
During the double event there was the launch of the Zishineni CDP and the official open?ng of Mc-intyre dip tank no.609.
Micro projects contr?buted E323 348 towards the dip tank facility while the community contributed a sum of E120 205 in cash and kind.
Minister Mabuza said chiefdom development planning gave the citizens an opportunity to engage with land use experts, environmentalists, extension officers, sociologists and other experts to have their concerns heard and to craft a plan that improves their lives.
He said the development plan was key and a necessary process and or component to all communities as it served as a roadmap to attaining development goals and dreams.
“The plan will enable you to identify and harness development opportunities for the chiefdom and to further take advantage of the development services and opportunities prov?ded by government, private sector and non-governmental organisat?ons (NGOs),” the minister stated. He said the achievement of the plan meant a change in the people’s livelihood.
The minister said the country needed everyone to stand up to ensure that every homestead has got enough food. He encouraged people to take advantage of the early rains in order to address the issue of food secur?ty.
He said as people had challenges of climate change they were encouraged to use any mitigating plans to reduce the effects of climate change.
He further encouraged everyone especially the youth to embark on income generating projects.
“In the agricultural sector we have so many opportunities that can be ventured like vegetable farming, feedlots, piggery, bee keeping, poultry farming, indigenous ch?ckens and bro?lers and layers,”
“Such endeavours will take us a long way in sustaining our livelihood economically,” the minister stated.
He said to achieve such it became easy when people came together and formulated groups for easy access of funds.
He pointed out that funding may be sourced from the RDF, youth enterprise fund and the financial services institutions available in the country.
The minister of agriculture disclosed that the CDP was centred on the aspirations of beneficiaries. Mabuza said there was a consensus on the use of available resources for the benefit of the community.
“It is holistic and it involves multi-stakeholders, including households and traditional leaders, government institutions, development partners and the private sector,” the minister stated. He said what had evolved into chiefdom development planning was a methodology that had been developed by the ESWADE through the implementation of rural development projects assigned to it by government.
According to the minister, Zishineni Chiefdom is very proactive when it comes to issues of development. He said the community had successfully managed to construct a dip-tank with funding sought from Micro Projects.
“It doesn’t end there as you have continued to apply the skills that you have been empowered on by the SMLP on negotiation and proposal writing,”
“I have learnt with appreciation that you have formed natural resource management committees (NMRC) and rangeland management committees (RMC) that will look into environment issues,” the minister said.
Mabuza said he was happy that after being empowered the beneficiaries had continued to demonstrate exceptional leadership by ensuring that the whole community was sensitised.
He said to prove that the members had been fully capacitated, he had been reliably informed that they had successfully applied and had been granted by the Environment Fund an amount to the value of E210 303 which would be used for land rehabilitation initiatives identified in the chiefdom.
Mabuza mentioned that the community has demonstrated unity in the development of the chiefdom development plan.
He said he was certain that they would continue to realise more fruits because the tool would help to guide them as they implement all the innovations and developments that they aspire to have as Chiefdom.
“The harmony that you have exhibited has made it possible for you to come up with the activities that you have documented.
You have been able to plan freely for your Chiefdom matters that will increase and grow development in your community,” the minister stated.
