JS KABYLIE APPEAL LEOPARD REPLAY

Africa-Press – Eswatini. ALGERIAN giants JS Kabylie appealing the decision by the CAF Competitions Committee to reschedule their match against Royal Leopard after the latter’s failure to honour last Thursday match due to flight difficulties.

Leopard carry a reed-thin 1-0 lead to the return match scheduled for this Sunday February 6. Supposedly, the return match will finally have its epilogue with this new and umpteenth schedule set by the CAF interclub competitions committee.

After studying the reports of the officials and the supporting documents of Leopard, CAF decided last Saturday to postpone, a decision which did not fail to astonish the management of JS Kabylie. In a press release made public on its Facebook page, JS Kabylie expressed its disavowal of this decision for which it will appeal.

“JS Kabylie is very surprised by this decision and will appeal given that the opposing team (Leopard) did not ask for the postponement of the match. Leopard just contented themselves with informing us of their impossibility to travel,” the Algerian side wrote.

Failed

“The rules of the competition are very clear, in such a case. Travel arrangements are the responsibility of the visiting team. While taking note of this decision, we note that Leopard failed to castigate the local federation, namely the FAF (Federation of Algerian Football).

JS Kabylie deplores the immobility of the FAF, which does not seem to worry about the fate of the club (JS Kabylie), which however, represents Algeria in African competition,” the statement ended. Leopard was unable to reach Algiers last Wednesday, which it was to reach from Cairo (Egypt) via Istanbul (Turkey) which was in its flight plan.

Once in Cairo, the reigning MTN Premier League champions could not continue with its journey after the company which was to transport it to the Turkish capital was refused access to the Turkish airspace due to bad weather. Return This forced Leopard to return home.

The police ensemble was back in MTN Premier League action on Monday with a hard fought 2-all draw against Vovovo. It remains to be seen whether this return match, which is experiencing its fourth programming will be played.

Thabiso Mokenkoane scored the only goal in the first leg match, a result that sees Leopard with one foot into the tournament’s group stages where they will be guaranteed USD275 000 (about E4.1 million).
