Africa-Press – Eswatini. MINISTER of Education and Training Lady Howard-Mabuza has warned individuals instigating schools protests to leave schools alone. Making her remarks during a press briefing at the ministry’s boardroom yesterday at the minister said instigators should take their noise elsewhere and not bother schools.

“We have learnt with great concern and disappointment of perpetrators of violence invading and disturbing schools while learning is in progress.

“We would like to caution these individuals to desist from disturbing the learning process, more especially because these children are preparing for their final examinations,” she said. Schools in the country, with the exception of private schools, are in the last term of the 2021 academic year, with internal and external examinations scheduled to start as early as next month.

“As schools and learners prepare for their examinations, we do wish to see all of them attaining a commendable pass rate,” she said. The minister said preparations were already at advanced stages and that there was no room for any disturbances. She further encouraged the nation to play a role in curbing such behaviour by being vigilant and protecting the schools and learners.

“Education remains a fundamental human right for all and no one should deprive any citizen his or her right to education.

“It also remains an important driver of development to any person or society and it is therefore imperative to afford children the opportunity to learn like everyone else,” she said. Remarkable She noted that since the reopening of schools this year, they had seen remarkable progress. Mabuza added that teachers had attributed greatly to the progress in the past three weeks.

“I would like to commend the teachers, who are working hard to recover the time lost, the learners who are focused on their studies, parents and the entire nation for their contributions towards this positive progress,” she said.
