MC PROMISES 4 MONTHS ARREAR SALARIES

Africa-Press – Eswatini. There seems to be light at the end of the tunnel at Manzini Wanderers, as the Management Committee (MC) is said to be working tirelessly to resolve the outstanding salaries due to the players dating back to four months.

This was revealed by the team’s Chairman Berger Nxumalo following the recent training boycott in the hub giants.

Nxumalo said as the new MC, they were trying all possible means to ensure that the players got their current and outstanding pay.

“We are aware that the players are being owed their salaries and we are working on it as management. We engaged the players thus they knew what was going on in the team in as far as their pay is concerned,” he said.

He admitted that the team was still struggling in some departments as they still did not have a substantive director, but promised that their situation would not prevent the players from getting what was due to them.

He however revealed they gave the players a motivation during their last two games against Nsingizini Hotspurs and Tambuti respectively.

When asked about the boycott of training by the players following the unpaid salaries, he said most players were expected back at training today in preparation for their game against Mbabane Swallows on Saturday, at Mavuso Sports Centre. He said some of them were involved in stokvels.

Action

Earlier in the month, the hub giants’ players were reported to have been engaged in a strike action following unpaid salaries dating back to last season. Independent investigations conducted by this publication suggest that the players had vowed not to return to training until they received their salaries.

The players were expected to resume training last Tuesday after the festive break but did not return as expected. Sources close to the matter revealed that the players were only given E600 each for Christmas after the Nsingizini match, where they played to a two-all draw before the league break.
