LEAGUE GAMES CALLED OFF

Africa-Press – Eswatini. This weekend’s MTN Premier League and National First Division (NFD) matches have been called off due to unavailability of security and emergency services.

This was revealed by PLE Chief Executive Officer Kenneth Makhanya ahead of tomorrow’s matches, citing the challenge they faced in hosting the games.

“In view of the unavailability of security and emergencies services over the weekend of 7/8 January 2023, the Premier League of Eswatini hereby postpones all Premier League Week 11 and National First Division Week 8 fixtures to next week.

“We thank all clubs for their positive cooperation in advance as always,” he said.

This means that the seven Premier League matches that were scheduled for tomorrow will be played at a later date, possibly next weekend.

Some of the matches were to involve first round title contenders Green Mamba and Highlanders scheduled for Ka Langa Stadium and the tricky affair between Manzini Sea Birds and Young Buffaloes at King Sobhuza II Stadium.

Crowd pullers Manzini Wanderers and Mbabane Swallows were due to face off at the Mavuso Sports Centre.

There are three more matches left until the end of the first round, which carries a E100 000 carrot.
