Africa-Press – Eswatini. It was raining money for the national sports awards winners hosted by the Eswatini Sport and Recreation Council (ESRC) at the Happy Valley Hotel on Thursday.
All nine winners took home a lucrative E10 000 for their hard work in sports from 2020 to date. This was the third edition of the awards as they were hosted in 2017 and 2019.
The winners were presented with their E10 000 cheques, trophies, and blazers by the Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Harries ‘Madze’ Bulunga and other sports officials.
The winners included senior boxer Zweli Dlamini who was named the outstanding senior sportsman. It is the second time he has claimed the award.

Other winners were swimmer Hayley Hoy who took home the outstanding junior sportswoman award, Nolwazi Nkwanyana who was the most outstanding senior sportswoman and Lihle Mngometulu who received the outstanding sportswoman award.
Other winners were the outstanding coach Mancoba Motsa who was leading the taekwondo team in the Region V Games.
The Taekwondo team dominated the awards as they also took home the outstanding junior sportsman taken by Sihlelelwe Matsebula with the association (Eswatini Taekwondo Federation) taking the most outstanding sports association.
Minister Madze was full of praise for the winners and he congratulated them for their outstanding performance.

“Allow me to congratulate each and every one of today’s winners, taking note of the old adage that says ‘the eminence of winners is judged by the quality of the losers’. In this regard, allow me to say, all the nominees for this exercise are in essence, winners”, he said.

Outstanding junior sportsman: Sihlelelwe Matsebula (Taekwondo)
Outstanding sportswoman with a disability: Lihle Mngometulu (Athletics)
Outstanding senior sportsman: Zweli Dlamini (Boxing)
Outstanding junior sportswoman: Hayley Hoy (Swimming)
Outstanding sports coach: Mancoba Motsa (Taekwondo)
Outstanding sportsman with a disability: Vusi Xaba
Outstanding sports association: Eswatini Taekwondo Federation (ETF)
Outstanding senior sportswoman: Nolwazi Nkwanyana
Outstanding sports team: Eswatini Chess Ladies team
