Africa-Press – Eswatini. Reverend Dr Dalcy Badeli Dlamini will be officially ordained as the Bishop of the Anglican Church in Eswatini tomorrow.

Dlamini is the second woman to hold the position of bishop of the church locally.
Dlamini’s appointment follows the demise of Bishop Elinah Wamukoya, who succumbed to a COVID-19 related illness.

Wamukoya was the first woman Bishop in the church.
This was announced by Archdeacon Bhekindlela Magongo, who has been elected Cathedral Bishop of the Diocese of Eswatini.

Magongo said Dlamini would be ordainedduring a service to be held at the All Saints Cathedral in Mbabane at 10am.
He said the ordination would be conducted by Dr Thabo Cecil Makgoba, the Archbishop of Cape Town and Metropolitan of the Anglican Church of Southern Africa.

He stated that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, attendance would be strictly by invite.
“We understand that brethren wish to attend the service but because of COVID-19, the numbers have to be limited.

We ask that they respect this decision, especially because the invites have already been sent,” he said.
He, however, noted that the service would be livestreamed on their Facebook page and other social media platforms.

Magongo added that the Anglican community in the country would get the chance to interact with the bishop during the Diocese family day normally held towards the end of the year.
The bishop is expected to address the church for the first time on the day. The archdeacon pleaded for prayers from the entire nation to ensure the success of the service.
