Africa-Press – Eswatini. It is a slight increase for sports in the national budget.
The Eswatini National Sports and Recreation Council has been allocated E7 724 710 by Minister of Finance Neal Rikenburg in his budget speech delivered in Parliament yesterday.

The figure shows a E386 236 increase from last year’s E7 338 474 allocation.
The Ministry of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs received a E34 674 845 allocation, with the department of Youth Affairs getting the biggest chunk of E12 600 000.

the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) received E5 million from government.
The allocation will come in handy for Sihlangu, who are set to begin their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Somalia next month.

The ministry’s allocation shows an increase from E33 598 326 in the previous financial year to E34 674 845 this year as government seeks to prioritise youth empowerment.
“We are grateful to government for the grant. Our main focus is human development and we appreciate the fact that our athletes will continuously be active,” said ESRC Chief Executive Officer Darius Dlomo
