Africa-Press – Eswatini. The national shutdown organized by the Swaziland Transport, Communications, and Allied Workers Union (SWATCAWU) as part of the April 12,1973 commemoration failed after the deployment of police officers across the country.

Public transport was available as early as 7 a.m. at Mbabane, Manzini, Nhlangano, Siteki, and Pigg’s Peak, among other major towns.

On Tuesday,Deputy Prime Minister Senator Themba Masuku maintained that Wednesday would be a normal working day,and he assured the public that police would be deployed to maintain law and order.

But Sticks Nkambule, the SWATCAWU Secretary General, warned the public that those who would go to town might be stranded later on.

“There would be no public transport tomorrow, and those who might decide to go to town will be stranded, and the DPM will not assist them. The DPM mentioned before that things would be normal only to disappear when people are left stranded,” said the Public Transport Union Secretary General.
