Africa-Press – Eswatini. Despite a poor outing for Sihlangu, there is still some good news for Eswatini.
Young Buffaloes sensational youngster Bongwa Matsebula is currently one of the players leading the scorers charts with two goals in the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) Cup in Durban, South Africa. Other players who currently sit on two goals are South Africa’s Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates striker Tshegofatso Mabasa , Affane Djambae (Comoros), Albert Kangwanda (Zambia) and Neo Mokhachane (Lesotho).
Meanwhile, the other players are at the best advantage of overtaking Matsebula since Sihlangu is no longer part of the tournament following their exit on Tuesday. The sharp shooter gets E20 000.
Matsebula is still having a good opportunity to make his name known in the COSAFA Cup because age is still on his side and most countries use this tournament to parade new young players. Meanwhile, Green Mamba Sabelo Ndzinisa’s top goalscorer COSAFA dream is over. This follows Sihlangu’s premature elimination in the tournament. Currently on eight goals, he was eyeing to topple countryman Felix Badenhorst, as the tournament’s all-time top goalscorer. The latter is on nine goals.
Award
Local football supporters were looking forward to this year’s COSAFA Cup, hoping to see the last edition’s top goalscorer Ndzinisa continuing where he left off by banging in more goals this year. The bulky striker was the top goalscorer award winner last year, getting three goals and the E20 000. However, the forward suffered a huge blow in his first game due to injury when playing the opening game against Botswana, which Sihlangu lost 1-0.
