Africa-Press – Eswatini. Sikanye Logistics, with over 100 vehicles, has assured its readiness to take the logistic sector into greater heights.
The company’s services were launched yesterday at the Hilton Garden Inn Hotel. The launch was graced by the Principal Secretary (PS) in the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, Thulani Mkhaliphi, Judge Titus Mlangeni, Sicalisa Foundation Founder Tony Sibandze, among others.
Sikanye Logistics is a Swati registered logistics company, having been founded in 2023 by Bongani Mamba and Triston Naicker (South African partner). Mamba is liSwati bringing his experience in Eswatini fuel and chemicals transportation and an expert in safety, health, environment and quality standards spanning over 16 years. Meanwhile, Naicker, is a South African logistics and operations expert with experience from Sikanye Logistics.
Support
The business is borne out of two parents Aqua Bulk from SA which brings valuable support in terms of the management and supply of needed fleet and Eswatini Procurement Agency, which brings SHEQ and operational management expertise. In his remarks, Mamba stated that Sikanye was a new baby with an aim to provide logistic solutions in the country. He said they had identified a niche mostly in the trucking section. Mamba highlighted on his experience in the industry as he has been in it for over 16 years. He stated to have pioneered the establishment, up to accreditation of ISO management systems for UNITRANS Eswatini.
“I can mention that there is a niche for more emaSwati to partake more especially in the fuel transportation industry,” he said. He noted that the space or the transportation industry had been mainly dominated by foreign based transporters. He said, therefore, it was time and opportunity for emaSwati to rise up and take advantage just like him. He stated that it had been noted that this foreign based companies, would only collect the product (fuel) from plant to plant, that is to say they took the fuel from the refineries in SA to Matsapha depos. He said they did not take the fuel to the local fuel stations.
“Our advantage as Sikanye Logistics, as a local registered company, we have the capacity to collect products from the plant in Durban to Matsapha and to the service stations,” said Mamba. The director said they were here to provide their service, not only in fuel transportation but also other different industries including the construction industry, mining, environmental waste, food grains, oils and many more products.
Fleet
He said there was sufficient fleet to provide the transport service for all and many other sectors. He further stated that as a company they had already hired more than 50 emaSwati and they were looking forward to hiring more. He said as a ‘new baby’ they were pleading for their potential clients to make their work seamless by sticking to contractual agreements, which included timely payments. The director further mentioned that as a company they were committed to provide quality services and safety to clients’ products.
Meanwhile, Mkhaliphi reiterated that Eswatini Government was open for business as it had been said over and over again by the country’s authorities that, emaSwati were encouraged to start businesses to move forward. His Majesty has challenged us by stating that we want emaSwati who previously had been referred to as MSMEs to grow and become billionaires,” said Mkhaliphi.
The PS mentioned that Mamba had been seen in quite a number of aspects and what he touched had become a brand that all emaSwati would wish to associate with. Mkhaliphi said it was no doubt that the Sikanye Logistics brand would become more visible going forward. He stated that transport systems made the economy work. Sibandze and Judge Mlangeni congratulated Mamba and his team for launch of the new company and wished him well as he move forward with the business.
