Africa-Press – Eswatini. The country’s main stadiums will not host the opening games of the MTN Premier League.
While it is still unclear on when Somhlolo will be re-opened, following a major rehabilitation programme, Mavuso Sports Centre has also been closed. The latter is given time to recover after hosting the Trade Fair Cup for the better part of last week. The Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) released the league opening round fixtures yesterday and no matches would be played at Somhlolo and Mavuso.
According to the fixture programme, action gets underway from this coming Friday, with eight-time champions, Royal Leopard, welcoming Ezulwini United at KaLanga Technical Centre in Siteki at 3:30pm. The latter are in the Premier League after buying Tambuti’s status. Champions Green Mamba headline ‘Super Saturday’ fixtures, as they square up against last season’s runners-up Young Buffaloes at KaLanga at 3:30pm. Beleaguered Manzini Wanderers, on the other hand, will be away to Nsingizini Hotspurs in Nhlangano on the same day. Also in action on Saturday will Mbabane Highlanders and Mbabane Swallows, who begin their 2023/24 campaign against Madlenya and Rangers, in that order.
