MATSAPHA TOWN COUNCIL’S REVENUE INCREASES

Africa-Press – Eswatini. Matsapha Town Council has reported a E1.1 million increase in revenue for the year ended March 31.

The municipality’s revenue for the financial year under review is E43.9 million, while the previous financial year it recorded revenue at E42.7 million.

According to the Matsapha Town Council’s annual report for the financial year 2022/23, the financial year marked the end of the implementation of Council’s strategic document known as the Integrated Development Plan 2018-2024.

It highlighted that in a bid to improve lighting efficiency and save energy costs for the town, the council embarked on a project for the installation of a light emitting diode (LED Lights) at Tubungu Township worth E500 000.

The council further implemented traffic lights upgrade along MR03 and Ludvonga Street worth E150 000.

“This is one of the measures the council is implementing to resolve the issue of traffic congestion in the town,” reads the report in part.

It further highlighted that the rehabilitation of King Mswati III street junctions, walkways, pipe culverts and drains cost the council E5 million.

“Through the project the town has realised an improvement in the traffic flow as well as an improved drainage system along the street,” reads the report.
