Africa-Press – Eswatini. Lawyer and son to Judges Lorraine and Nkululeko Hlophe has been found dead in his rented flat at Fonteyn in Mbabane.
Zweli Hlophe was reportedly found dead on Monday evening, wearing a suit and a robe commonly known as a court gown with a rope tied around his neck in his bathroom. Hlophe was employed as an attorney at Magagula and Hlophe Attorneys and was reportedly discovered at 6pm on Monday evening by friends, who had been trying to contact him for their usual meet up.
“We last spoke to him on Friday night and he was radio silent the whole of Saturday towards Sunday,” said a friend.
The friends are reported to have decided to go and check on Hlophe in his house at Fonteyn after he did not show up for work, only to walk into his cold body with a rope tied around his neck in the bathroom. With his motor vehicle being parked all day and night alongside a slightly opened burglar door was a giveaway for concerns resulting in the friends checking up on Hlophe.
Heart-wrenching
“It was the most heart-wrenching thing to see, so we decided to call the police and his parents,” said the friend. Chief Police Information and Communications Officer (PICO) Superintended Phindile Vilakati confirmed that the body of a young man was discovered and retrieved by police officers at Fonteyn.
“There was indeed a report on such, and as per procedure, we cannot divulge any information as yet because we are yet to conduct investigations,” she said.
