Africa-Press – Eswatini. Most of the corporate giants are descending to Ezulwini to establish their headquarters there.

The latest to reveal its intended move to Ezulwini is the Central Bank of Eswatini (CBE). These developments came after the CBE Board of directors approved the acquisition of two plots in Ezulwini, to construct a new Central Bank headquarters and complex. The plots being acquired are; remainder of portion 44 of Farm 50 and Portion 45 of Farm 50. The two plots include improvements that used to be Ezulwini Sun – which cuts across the two plots. These improvements will be customised going forward for the bank’s purposes. In a press statement, CBE Governor Dr Phil Mnsi highlighted that: The Central Bank had previously acquired a plot in Mbabane for the purpose of constructing its headquarters. “The Board has since approved that this plot be sold and the proceeds to be used to contribute to the acquisition of the site in Ezulwini.”

He further highlighted that the site measured approximately 21 hectares and CBE management was already working on plans to put together a 30-50 year development plan. He stated that the bank currently had a large property portfolio, including the current head office. He said the new property would allow the bank to consolidate its property portfolio and would, in due course, strategically dispose off some of the current properties. The governor said some of the structures that would feature in the new complex include the following:

1. A high-rise office park.

2. A state-of-the-art museum with a curio shop, an innovation hub, a data centre, a staff wellness centre including a health facility.

3. A centre of excellence with conference facilities.

4. A recreational and sporting complex that will allow the CBE to easily host inter-central bank games.

“The Central Bank remains committed to pursue its mandate and contribute to the development and growth of Eswatini’s economy,” concluded the governor. It is worth noting that a number of large corporates including the FNB Eswatini, Eswatini Revenue Service (ERS) and MTN Eswatini had already finished their state-of-art office complexes in Ezulwini, giving the place a different look. Eswatini Communication Commission (ESCCOM) head offices are also taking shape near the newly built Sitselo Semphilo Ezulwini Private Hospital.
