Africa-Press – Eswatini. THERE were security fears at the EFA Technical Centre after the Sihlangu bus was torched in the early hours of Sunday morning.
This led to the cancellation of the Eswatini BoxingAssociation annual general meeting, which was scheduled for yesterday morning at the same venue.
The association’s President, Webster Lukhele, said they would now hold the AGM next weekend.
“We have decided to shift the meeting to next weekend following security fears at the venue.
“We will now look for an alternative venue for the meeting on Sunday,” he said.
EBA was supposed to table their reports for the year, including the sending of boxers to an international camp in South Africa.
The international camp is part of the Memorandum of Understanding between EBA and the South African national Boxing Association (SANABO), which was signed about three years ago.
Boxing is among the four sporting codes that will form part of Team Eswatini during the 2022 Commonwealth Games at Birmingham, England in July.
The boxing mother body recently hosted the two-day National Championships which was graced by Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Harries ‘Madze’ Bulunga two weeks ago at Mdzimba view at Ezulwini.
