Africa-Press – Eswatini. The roots of education are bitter, but the fruit is sweet.

This adage rings true for the newly-crowned Mr Eswatini, Sive Aidan Mawelela who was part of the graduands at the William Pitcher Teachers’ College on Friday.

Mawelela is leading by example in society by letting his actions speak louder as he was part of the 173 graduates at the institution.

The role model and alumni was enrolled at the college for a Secondary Teacher’s Diploma in Mathematics and Science.

He said he had waited for so long for this day to finally come.

“I am very happy and grateful as of today I am officially a qualified secondary school teacher. It has been quite a journey but we made it. My gratitude goes to my mother and the whole family for supporting me in every way through my life in college,” he said.

Mawelela further appreciated everyone who went out of their way just to support him.

“What also made me so happy today was the presence of the First Prince Msimisi Dlamini to support me on my big day.

This shows that we are indeed a family that has only one goal of seeing our young people grow,” he said.

The William Pitcher Teachers’ College alumni further said he was hoping this would inspire the youth to embark on an educational journey as knowledge was power.

“As Mr Eswatini this means a lot to me in the sense that people will understand that being Mr Eswatini is not only about the looks. We want game changers, people who will look for solutions where there seem to be none and that needs one to be educated.

“I am happy that I’ll impact the lives of our young people positively in showing them that even today regardless of all the circumstances education remains the key to success,” he said. Mawelela further advised emaSwati to work hard and chase their dreams in order to become a better person and be well versed on issues happening all around the world.

“To all the young Emaswati who have dreams to become something one day, hard work, sacrifice, determination and consistency and patience will always lead you to success. You are the only person who understands your dream and it only you who’s capable of turning it into a reality,” he said.

He further encouraged the youth to dream big and not to give up on their dreams no matter the circumstances they are currently faced with.

“As the reigning Mr Eswatini, my wish is to see all young emaSwati from different walks of life inspired and motivated to become better citizens tomorrow because a lot is happening lately and the future looks blurry.

“We as organisations need to join hands, share ideas on how we are going to assist our young people on the issues we are facing as a nation for an example issues of sanitary poverty, gender-based violence as well as substance and drug abuse,” he said.

On another note, Mawelela looked dapper in his white designer suit by Adam, which cost him E5 000. Mawelela’s family came to support him on his big day.
