Africa-Press – Eswatini. His Majesty King Mswati III has commended members of the women regiment (Lutsango) for displaying resilience and love for culture as they came out in their numbers to attend the second leg of the Buganu Festival held at Hlane.
Thousands of Lutsango came from across the four regions of the country to celebrate the first fruit. The festival, which started on Friday, turned out to be one of the best that has ever been witnessed as the main day lasted longer than in previous years.
Their Majesties made their address just after 10pm. This was after a splendid show of traditional dances by Lutsango regiment from other countries such as Nigeria, Cameroon, Ghana, Mozambique and South Africa.
When making his address, His Majesty commended the Lutsango for displaying undiluted love for culture and traditions as evidenced by the ever growing numbers in attendance.
In synchronisation with the Women’s Day which was commemorated on Friday, the king said the world recognised the input of women in the society.
His Majesty King Mswati III said the enthusiasm shown by Lutsango during the Buganu Festival also indicated that the country was in safe hands.
He said this was a display of commitment by the women regiment. His Majesty also pointed out a development project which has taken place at Hlane, whereby a new arena was constructed. The king said this was all because of the commitment of Lutsango. He stated that the festival brought more projects than just coming together to dance.
In the same vein, His Majesty also recognised the presence of women regiment from other countries, saying it was an indication that Africa was in unity. He highlighted that Africa was known for the rich cultures and traditions that has been the unifying factor for all African countries.
The king then recognised dignitaries from other countries who graced the festival. These included KaTembe King Mabhudu Tembe, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration in Ghana Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, amongst others.
Indlovukazi implores Lutsango to work the ground, produce more food
Her Majesty the Indlovukazi has implored Lutsango to go and work the ground and produce more food to ensure food security in their communities.
As the throngs of Lutsango from across the country delivered various fruits and food items before Their Majesties, the Indlovukazi noted that members of the women regiment were hardworking and productive in general.

She said this was also an indication that women have the ability to produce enough to sustain their families.
The Indlovukazi, therefore, implored the Lutsango to put the same energy towards ensuring that their communities have enough food.
She said this would be done by working the ground, farming. Her Majesty highlighted that the Buganu Festival was not only about the marula fruit but also about food productivity. Indlovukazi expressed her delight in the enthusiasm shown by Lutsango.
In the atmosphere of His Majesty King Mswati III’s call to spring to action under the slogan of Nkwe, the Indlovukazi said Lutsango has shown commitment to act accordingly.
Working
Her Majesty said the nation would never go hungry if it remains committed to working the ground and cultivate food.
In the meantime, the Indlovukazi also expressed her appreciation to the women regiment who came from other countries. Her Majesty said it was humanly to embrace each other and celebrate together during happy times.
Likewise, the Indlovukazi urged the regiment to maintain the culture of looking out for one another even during hard times.
