Africa-Press – Eswatini. Two children mysteriously disappeared from their mother’s homestead at Debedebe in Hlatikhulu.
The children, Ayabongwa (four years) and Kwakhanya Lukhele (19 months) were allegedly kidnapped while at their biological mother’s homestead. They went missing on March 11, 2024. A close relative is wanted by the police to assist them regarding the disappearance of the children. This is not the first case where children disappeared from their homestead as in January 2021, a pair of two-year-olds disappeared at Mkhondvo in Nyanyali, while playing outside a homestead on December 24, 2020, and to date their whereabouts are unknown. Following the disappearance of the children, residents of Nyanyali reportedly decided to take the law into their own hands, because they were frustrated by the slow progress in resolving the matter.
Police arrested six members of the community, who were accused of having a hand in the death of Nomthantazo Nkambule (70), who was suspected to be having information pertaining to the disappearance of the children. Nkambule died after being hacked with a slasher, kicked all over the body and further stoned allegedly by the mob. Meanwhile, the police have issued a wanted person notice seeking the public’s assistance in locating Mlondi Mphikeleli Lukhele of Buseleni, KaMfishane, who is wanted in connection with murder and contempt of court cases.
