KING TOURS 2 MORE MATSAPHA BUSINESSES

Africa-Press – Eswatini. His Majesty King Mswati III visited and officially opened two businesses in Matsapha. These businesses are Elangeni Poultry’s hatchery and abattoir, and Logico.

The purpose of the King’s visit to these entities was to get to know the businesses. Elangeni Poultry is a subsidiary of Elangeni Food Group. Under the stable of Elangeni Poultry is Elangeni Chicks hatchery based at Dwaleni in Matsapha.

The hatchery provides poultry farmers around Eswatini with quality chicks. This division of the company sources quality hatching eggs from the company’s broiler-breeder flocks. The eggs are carefully graded and incubated in setters for 18 days before being transferred onto hatchers. In the hatchers, the eggs remain there for three days under optimised conditions to ensure that healthy chicks are produced and sold to farmers all over the country. The chicks are sold when they are a day-old after they get vaccinated

The King was informed that the Elangeni Poultry is at the grassroots level of the broiler value chain, as it rears parent-broilers from the parent stock, and also manages the processes of egg grading, incubating, hatching, packaging and distribution.

From the hatchery unit, His Majesty then visited the Elangeni Poultry’s abattoir, which is located at the Matsapha Industrial Site. At the abattoir, fully-grown broilers are slaughtered and processed to chicken portions ready for the market. The King was informed that a total of 35 000 chickens are processed at the abattoir per day.

Another company that the King toured yesterday is Logico, which is a distribution centre that purchases various products from different brands, which they then sell to retailers. In addition to being a product distributor, the King was told that Logico also provides warehousing, sales and merchandising solutions to its customers.

The businesses that the King toured yesterday add to the list of businesses that he had toured in the past two months. These include Embiveni Meat Industries, Infracast (PTY) Ltd, Union Papers, Dalcrue Agricultural Holdings’ Poultry unit, and Power Pack Africa. Yesterday, parliamentarians, chiefs and members of the royal family were also in attendance.
