Africa-Press – Eswatini. Eswatini’s agricultural sector is undergoing a powerful transformation, one that was recently praised in Forbes Africa’s April/May 2025 edition for its innovation, resilience, and potential to uplift communities.

Forbes Africa recognised Eswatini’s agricultural sector as a “shining example of sustainable growth in Africa.”

Thanks to strategic reforms and climate-smart innovation, the Kingdom’s fields are more productive and promising than ever.

“Our land is a blessing, and it’s time we fully harness its potential,” said Minister of Agriculture Mandla Tshawuka.

Major projects such as the Lower Usuthu Smallholder Irrigation Project (LUSIP) and Mkhondo-Ngwavuma Water Augmentation Scheme are expanding commercial farmland, creating thousands of jobs.

Agriculture already employs 60% of the Kingdom’s workforce.

“By boosting agriculture, we stimulate food security, industrial growth, and rural development,” Tshawuka emphasised.

New technologies, including drone farming and hydroponics, are revolutionising the sector.

“We are introducing drone farming, hydroponics, and data-driven irrigation systems,” Tshawuka told Forbes Africa. These innovations not only enhance productivity but also attract youth into farming.

Climate resilience remains a critical priority. “Minimum tillage, water conservation, and soil health are at the heart of our approach,” the Minister stated.

Beyond raw crops, Eswatini is scaling up agro-processing. “We aim to transform raw produce into high-value exports—be it honey, cotton garments, or processed meat,” Tshawuka explained.

Investment opportunities abound, fueled by Eswatini’s peaceful governance and strategic market access. “Investors find peace, stability, and opportunity here,” he concluded.

As Forbes Africa observed, Eswatini’s green revolution is not only feeding the nation—it is cultivating lasting prosperity for generations to come.
