Ministry of Public Works Invests in Shiselweni’S Civil Infrastructure

Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Ministry of Public Works and Transport has emphasized its national mandate through a series of ambitious infrastructure developments currently taking shape across the Shiselweni Region.

With a focus on transport accessibility, community connectivity, and resilience to weather disruptions, the Ministry has embarked on multiple civil works projects that promise to unlock new economic and social opportunities for thousands of emaSwati.

“These works are more than roads and crossings—they are bridges to education, healthcare, and economic participation,” said the Ministry in a statement. “We are building infrastructure that is safe, inclusive, and built to last.”

Among the most impactful developments is the Ndabazezwe Low-Level Crossing, a structure now elevated and reinforced to endure increasingly unpredictable weather.

This crossing has transformed the mobility landscape of the local community, enhancing access even during the rainy season.

Progress is also nearing completion on the Mkhwakhweni Low-Level Crossing, which features spot re-graveling across critical segments to ensure safer travel and reduce vehicle damage for rural commuters.

The goal, as the Ministry notes, is to “ease transportation challenges while addressing long-standing infrastructure gaps.”

Police NatCom joined the march against copper wire and stick theft at the Nhlambeni sports ground.

Further upstream, the Mzinsangu Low-Level Crossing spans the Mkhokhoba River and incorporates concrete approaches from both sides.

It now provides a vital connection between Mshololo and Mzinsangu, with direct benefit to students and staff of Ndzungunye Primary School.

“This crossing is not only about transport—it’s about giving children a safer path to education,” the Ministry emphasized.

Perhaps the most strategic intervention is the Mantambe Pier Bridge, a pivotal link between the communities of Mantambe and Manyandzeni.

By providing access to essential public amenities including Manyandzeni Primary School and a nearby health facility, the bridge serves as a physical manifestation of inclusive public investment.

The Ministry has highlighted d its dedication to expanding rural infrastructure as a cornerstone of national development.

“These projects represent our unrelenting effort to improve lives in underserved regions. Each completed crossing reduces isolation and brings government services closer to the people.”
